A pioneering process
We’ve designed a process that removes as much confusion as possible, replacing it with structure, guidance and a strong sense of community.
Over the course of around a year, you’ll move through the process step by step, with consistent support behind you. There’s something powerful about not doing this alone — sharing questions, experiences and milestones together.
Throughout your journey, you’ll be guided not only by our educators, but also in partnership with your chosen Rabbi at your synagogue. This ensures that your learning and experience of the process is grounded in real community and lived experience, not just theory.
Wherever you’re starting from, we’re here to walk alongside you — helping you move forward with clarity, confidence and the right support at every stage.

Five Steps
The Process
Reach out to the Beth Din
Your journey starts with the Sydney Beth Din — the rabbinic court that oversees the conversion process.
You’ll complete their application forms and submit any supporting documents. It might feel a little formal, but think of it as opening the door and introducing yourself.
Have your first conversations
Next, you’ll meet with one of the Beth Din Rabbis — not once, but twice.
These initial meetings are a chance to get to know you, hear your story and understand your intentions. It’s not a test — it’s a conversation, and an important first step in building trust and clarity around your journey.
Start learning (and connecting)
Once you’re accepted, you’ll join our weekly SAJE classes.
Led by experienced Rabbis and educators, these sessions follow the Orthodox conversion pathway — but more importantly, they give you space to ask questions, explore ideas and learn alongside others on a similar path.
Stay supported along the way
This isn’t something you do on your own.
You’ll stay connected with the Rabbi of the synagogue you choose to be part of, while also checking in regularly with the Beth Din to reflect on your progress.
We’re here to support you throughout — helping you stay on track, feel confident and keep moving forward.
Marking the milestone
When you’re ready, you’ll take the next step with a “pre-final” oral assessment with the Beth Din. After successfully completing this stage, a date will be set for your mikvah immersion — a deeply meaningful moment that marks your transition into Jewish life.
About a year later, you’ll return to the Beth Din for a follow-up meeting, where you’ll be formally presented with your conversion certificate.
It’s a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come — and to step forward into this new chapter with confidence and belonging.
SAJE was founded to fill a gap in the conversion process, one that often lacked guidance, structure, and warmth. We strive to offer all three to every student we support.
